A fan header shows no speed

Expected, nothing to fix

Some fan headers report no speed: nothing is plugged in, the fan has no speed wire, or the board has no speed sensor on that header.

Why this happens

Boards often have more headers than fans, and an empty header reads nothing. Some monitoring chips also control a header's power without measuring its speed; the ITE IT8792E found on several Gigabyte boards is one. The Fans and Sensors pages leave out a header no fan has been seen turning on, so an empty header never reads as a stopped fan; a fan seen turning before stays listed when it stops. Your hardware report still lists every header, with or without a speed.
