Windows recorded crashes or unexpected shutdowns

You can fix this

Windows has recorded blue-screen stops or unexpected shutdowns in the last 30 days.

Why this happens

An unexpected shutdown means Windows did not shut down on its own: power was lost or the machine was reset. A blue-screen stop is Windows halting on a fault. Aikonic shows when they happened; the cause is in the stop code and the events around it.

What to do

  1. Note the dates and whether they line up with a game, a driver update or a hardware change.
  2. Run the Hardware errors (WHEA) scan. Hardware errors near the same times point at hardware rather than software.
  3. Update Windows and the graphics and chipset drivers, and return any overclock to default.
